i've been here since day 1. the forum is like this because of / for me. it used to be very rigid and stiff "server chat" style chats but i was very charming. it's my little fan club. Back then we were all college kids and I was the most jocular hip one. The girls were always super into me at the meetups. I even turned it right wing in the 2015-2016 era (used to be reddit-left) as sort of a social experiment which is why you feel comfortable here :p I made it like this because there aren't really any collective groups of decent people to choose from by interest topic, and EQ just happened to be my favorite arbitrary pick. In other words, it was very much a matter of chance and whim. I know newjacks (everyone) won't understand or believe it, but I hope this helps!

I've seen this idea crop up before; sooner or later it's going to gain traction. It's even fair in the sense that electric vehicle users are effectively tax evaders since fuel taxes pay for much of our road maintenance. Unfortunately, in many cases it's also a backdoor means of trying to force tracking devices on everyone because quite often the lawmakers want to implement it via mandated GPS tracking rather than by eyeballing odometers. The mere idea of a mileage tax doesn't bother me overmuch, assuming they drop the gasoline tax at the same time (hah we know the odds of that one) but mandated tracking sure does.
