Since its so virulent it's always around, so you get sick again a month or two later.

Of the 992 remaining people 397 get sick, and 389 survive.

You stay sick for a month, you recover, couple of weeks later it hits you again. Over the course of the year, you get sick four times. And every time it comes around, your population takes a little hit.

At the end of the year, you're down to give or take 970 people. 18.5 are born. 7.8 die of other causes. Now you have 980. It's the New Year and you hear a cough.

So my question is, given that a declining population will have lower birth rate over time and that this will be further aggravated by the breakdown in social services, but at the same time the declining population will reduce the transmission rate, how many years will it be until not enough utility workers show up to man the power plants?

the only "virus test" i can think of presently involves adding antibodies into blood sample which will do something you can see visibly with a microscope, like fluoresce, if activated (ie, if the added immunoglobulins react with viral body). so you are testing for the viral bodies themselves using antibodies known to be triggered by viral body.

Some here in Japan think Prime Minister Abe is pushing to see how much he can get away with for emergency powers. He's been a proponent of dismantling Japan's constitution in order to rebuild the military. I 100% agree that prevention is better than curing, but preventative measures is one thing, declaring a state of emergency is another. It's a bit drastic. If SF suddenly had a spike of cases with unknown disease vectors that were unlikely to be contained, I could understand a state of emergency. 0 cases though, nah.

Well they're all ordering more. Every drugstore and supermarket and box store is going hey we need more hand sanitizer. So like when I was little, before Toyota came out with Just In Time inventory, stores had big backrooms and there were local warehouses and stores could restock in case of sudden demand, at least for a while. There was a buffer because retailers ordered in big lots and stuff sat in warehouses.

But JIT spread to the retail sector with what all the computers and all. An algorithm predicts exactly how much product is needed adjusted for seasonal variances and the factory gets an order for this much product and it lets its suppliers know and they start supplying and everything is smooth and efficient as long as demand is predictable and the suppliers are reliable.

Wife is the RN director of a extended-long term care center. Its 1 (one) RN and 2 assistants per 25 after 3pm? Or something like that ( rarely listened) and it's even more patients per nurse on the 11pm to 7am night shift.

And they all work multiple sites, along with temp staff RN's. When that virus starts hitting those centers they are fuuucked. It will be in and rolling long before people know.

I cant even watch the PA gov updates anymore. The incompetence listening to these clowns talk about shit they clearly dont understand makes my anxiety redline.
