A large portion of P99 players favors PoP over Velious they just don't want to leave their pals and don't want to start over and maybe don't want to spend $10 a month on a game for a few months until they can farm their own Krono and play for free. Just have to keep updating people so they know there is a server out there doing PoP and beyond, and good times are being had by all.

Over 15 guilds this week raided and kill top tier/2nd tier content. You can play with whatever style of raiding you prefer. Super casual. 3 AM neckbeard. Total scum lord. Mother Teresa. It's all available for you.

The added conveniences are mostly just quality of life features and to be honest after 5+ years on p99 with zero quality of life things I'm really enjoying them. I can award loot directly to someone in the advanced loot window, I can build raid groups myself, I can see everyone in my guild that's tagged, /bazaar exists, and I'm sure there's more. It's a more streamlined experience instead of having to keep extra databases and records. Also, most importantly I don't have to interact with other toxic guilds if I don't want to.

Half of this server would quit overnight if Nilbog enforced the Trilogy Client. So many horrible players couldn't deal with having to play in first person or an F9 view of 3rd person. So many awful enchanters would wipe in their group when they fail to mez mobs because cycle target doesn't work. So many bad shamans would fail their Canni Dance when you can't see your mana value in your inventory anymore. Etc. etc.

The Titanium quality of Life features are far more of an impact than the ones Phinigel has over P99.

I hope Nilbog moves over eventually. Would be a great day to see people play some real Classic EQ.

i dunno Lhance, I never played there :/ im adventuring in Eorzea (FFXIV) Lots of fun there though. It had issues with original launch, but SE shut it down, reworked it and launched it again and it has over 4.5million subscribers now. It has a cash shop too, but it all vanity and really caters to the population. Adventuring is very engaging and it also has a lot of fantastic other features like housing and stuff that make for fun when not bashing things. It definitely a lot faster paced than EQ, which upsets me a bit because it make it hard to chat while adventuring, but it fun too and lots of time and places to do that outside of adventuring (traveling, taverns, houses, guildhalls, apartments, etc.)

That client is the exact client used from PoP era. There isn't anything clunky about it that didn't exist in PoP.

That's the client P99 should be using since a true Trilogy one doesn't exist. It would atleast bring into line the controls and view of the game to be far more classic.

The beauty about Phinigel jerks is they operate in their own instances so you can completely ignore them and play with people whom you don't find jerks. Allowing you to do any content you wish, no one can really block you out of doing content.

I get that. It's the PoP client and P99 should be using that or a previous one. But the takp server doesn't seem to operate normally, mob physics are weird, speed is awkwardly faster than live, etc. I didn't really come here to argue about it, I just wanted an opinion on PoP servers from people who are actively talking about and enjoying PoP right now. I'm guessing the Phinny crew enjoys the post-PoP stuff though.

It helps to start with a balanced crew, solo PUGing kinda sucks. There's plenty of people still leveling up so it shouldn't be that bad, group xp is way way way better than solo xp though. There's literally dozens of raid guilds with a full range of commitment levels.

Grouping is easy. lots of alts and new players make for easy grouping. People powerleveling many of those groups makes it even faster. There are usually multiple picks of the better xp zones so finding a camp isn't too bad either.

Guilds, you have your pick as Dal said. You want to neckbeard like a boss, join AOS and batphone insanity crawler. Prefer a less taxing schedule and like doing things with low numbers for more loot, try OGC. Want to raid once a week, theres a guild for that too. You can absolutely find a guild that fits your style and playtimes.

Are the ways to view your character on Phinny limited? I am not familiar with what the "Trilogy Client" is.

That's the client P99 should be using since a true Trilogy one doesn't exist.

I don't know which client that other server used. Was it the periscope mode UI (pre-expansion/Kunark) or was it the Velious UI? A lot of folks have seemingly forgotten that the velious UI even existed. That one isn't too bad except for being stuck with one chat window, which is manageable.

TSS was a great expansion. I never was a fan of the ranked spell system and I was always salty they didn't rk3 all spells in that expansion only...

PoP, OoW and TSS were all good because they were level increase expansions with a lot of depth.

Only goes to officer decision when 2 or more people bid the max bid which is 2500 at the moment I think. It scales up with every expansion as does the amount of dkp earned and the minimum bid. The entire time I've been in OGC there's only been 1 time this has happened. I think it was the first Ele Robe that dropped? It doesn't happen enough for it to be a big concern. I *highly* doubt the cleric hammer will get anywhere near max.

15 A MONTH. what he means by pay with play is use in game plat to purchase Krono from others players (currently 11-12k) and then use the Krono to extend game time by one month.

I paid for 1 month of my subscription when I first started on Phinigel. By the 2nd month I had earned enough ingame to buy krono to pay for my account. I earned enough krono in-game during the first week of PoP launch to pay for my account for a year and a half. It doesn't cost anything with a minimal amount of effort.

Good work dudes. Quarm is basically free loot pinata after dealing with Zeks.

Every 25% a head explodes and he strips about 15-20 of the first debuffs on his list. So just reslow/cripple/ATK debuff each time this happens. MGB heals, generally I aim to stack both a Celestial Regen and Spirit of the Wood or Paragon of Spirit for most of the fight. Everyone having Celestial Heal potions also further trivializes this encounter (and much of Time).

One thing on Quarm I've been too lazy to investigate is whether he sticks to the pair of AEs like I thought he did. Was pretty sure he would do both the Fire head AEs for 25% and then both the Poison ones etc. But I haven't been paying close enough attention. If you do notice a pattern you can alternate the Elemental or Purifying Chorus depending on which AEs are currently being used. But in general I'd favor the Purifying over Elemental because the DoT/Mana Drains suck more than the Fire/Cold ones.

This is how it was for us on live.

When chain dropped people would go berkserk. Shamans would steal it. The rogues were constantly fucked on droprates, even on the dagger drops. We never saw any rogue weapons until PoTime.

server has been hitting single digits for awhile now on certain days but Tune and <Apex> tell everyone in teamspeak to stay at character select. Some guys even box 2-3 characters in <Apex> just to try to make it look like even a small group of people might actually play there.

I don't remember if I mentioned or not, but I managed to get 51 the night before last ^^ didn't get much play time in then though :c Last night I successfully solo healed a higher level dungeon without too much trouble. It was still a mid level technically, but higher than most of others I've done. Things were still a bit volatile thanks to trying to maximize my dps while healing, but I learning ^^; Also started some wedding planning. Super excited for that. Planning to work through some more unlocks this weekend and hopefully just have some time to dink around and do nothing ^^. Will try to post some screens too.

Used to farm ldon in about 20 mins per dungeon. Was a good time. What I don't remember is during the time is leashing like here. Started a gnome rogue on Phinny, I can't recall ever doing the tutorial stuff, so that's been interesting!

Basically my gears look like I am in lambent with that quested blue armor stuffs. Looking forward to leaving this area soon, and heading out into the vast world of Phinigel EQ.

No clue exactly what is in store tbh, so it's kind of fun exploring stuff now that I have not done before.

People been very helpful, no crying over mobs yet and seems to be no shortage of mobs even in the heavily populated starting zone.

DoN =Dragons of Norrath

2 sides, rewards with Radiant Crystals on good side and Ebon Crystals on evil side, which you can trade or spend at the respective camps.

I am assuming you're talking about the Creator mission from DoN. Was the one most people farmed for Radiant Crystals. LDoN most people just did the Slaughter or Collect adventure types. The Assassinate missions required you killed a certain amount of trash before the boss spawned I think so almost no one did those named kill missions really.

Praise be unto the ALEX wielding Knights. This event right here is the only reason the Peaceful Spirit of the Wood exists. Yet so many Druids think it's better than basic SotW. Derps.

DoN wasn't that bad lol.

The dragon models weren't that bad either. Yea Kessdona / Rikkikun were slender wyrm type dragons. The events each had their own little intricacies. Kess iirc you had to track the real statue and kill it to progress the event which was unique. Rikki was actual directional AE calls where your raid has to pay attention.

YarLir had a baller model and was scripted to be a different event each time depending on which type you got. Hurricane's Eye you had to hug him, Brood Mother had adds, The Storm had AEs on outer wall etc. Plus that ring!

Vishimtar also had a good model and a great event IMO. Eggs that take extra DMG from blunt, a pseudo bane. Adds with almost no hitpoints that respawn and ownface if you kill them so you have to no DMG CC them. Drake adds that spawn at 50% that you have to offtank or Snare and kite. DT triggers unlock HP from 25% to death 1% at a time. All throughout adds spawn if anyone dies. Great event!

Plus the Eye/Mask quest with class specific rewards. <3 this shit. Man you made me junk about those obscure dragons I haven't thought about in years. Such good raid content! No trash clear either in this expansion, was nice and refreshing post-Anguish and pre-Demiplane with their heavy trash clear centered raids.

For those unfamiliar this is a video of EoE abusing "mage tanking" rooted mobs in NToV. Essentially what happens is raid mobs with MoTM will never attack a pet so if pet classes send their pet in all the aggro they generate goes directly to the caster itself and the mob will refuse to attack the pet even if its the only thing in its aggro range. So a mage could send in a pet on a permarooted raid mob and the mage stands back out of AE/Aggro/Summon range and lets pet build aggro for a while. Once sufficient aggro is achieved the raid can move in and auto attack the dragon down. Dragon won't hit anyone or even cast AE's it literally just stands there til it dies trying to attack the mage that has tons of aggro but the dragon can't reach it.

here is the tentacle monster. it is a different one, but i slew it too. i also battled a giant scorpion and it was a bastard, but we finally got it. oddly it was more challenging than Ultima Weapon, which was a SUPER fun fight ^^... i don't have any pictures of it though :c

he have an AE that if you get caught in it, he smack you with all his tentacles all the way across the room. and then he pick you up and throw you on the ground in front of his face right before he inks you. there not really a way to dodge the grabbing, but you can dodge the ink and the slapping AE. overall it was a fun encounter. i actually liked it more than the other one even though there were water jets that you have to ride around islands because that one was confusing.

pretty much. you hail a fish guy and it gives your raid an instance of the zone that only you can enter by talking to said fish guy. you just make x separate raids, do x hails and each raid has its own instanced zone to clear.

Houston we have a problem. A friend has been trying to get me to play Rust with him and I refused to spend $20 on a game "I'll probably get bored of in 5 minutes" so he decided to gift it to me on Steam and I gave it a fair shot. Haven't logged in EQ in 2 days. Game is pretty fucking legit minus being poorly optimized. Its kinda rough on new players tho. Took me like 3 hours of constant dying and respawning to finally spawn somewhat nearby my friends I was playing with. We manage to build a small fort and get a furnace and shit going and 30 seconds later some dudes with AK's roll up and murder all of us while we have wood spears and rocks and our dongs flapping in the breeze. Learned real quick u gotta get a lock on the door ASAP when you build a new fort.

2 days later we got a 3 story fort with a sniper balcony at the top. All we've managed to get besides shitty waterpipe shotguns and eoka pistols (Both 1 shot clip with long reloads) is a single semi auto rifle with scope and flashlight. None of us are brave enough to venture outside our base with it for fear of dying and losing the only half-way decent weapon we've managed to find. About 50% of the time we go out to gather resources we get murdered and lose it all before making it back to base. Then we end up losing more resources building tools to go back out again. Shits rough man.

No I'm not quitting EQ. Still gonna raid regularly. Just found something temporarily more fun than being AFK in Tranquility all day waiting for raid time.

Rust is one of the better survival games due to its legitimacy (at least last I checked, its been a while)

H1Z1 has hackers galore. No idea how Rust manages to maintain such a low rate of flagrant hacking, but it does. And thats what it takes to maintain a good survival game so people can have the fun they need to have.

Daybreak failed to do that. SOE failed to do that. H1Z1 is a colossal failure due to hacks.

Well previously everyone would do the slaughter missions (kill X mobs for victory), because they all provided the same amount of points.

Now though, if your goal is points not wins, you are better suited doing the Rescue or Assassinate missions because they award so many more points. Almost no one did these types because they generally took longer or were easier to fail.

Should be interesting to see people try out new mission types they've never done before.

FFXIV is SO much better. i think the primary difference in graphics is style. ffxiv of course have japanese aesthetic. TESO have larger mammaries. FFXIV anthro races infinitely less disgusting. it a toss up on particle effects, but i think i go with FFXIV on those too. FFXIV cities feel more alive and real too, it the attention to detail. TESO seem like more of a stage. TESO have more flexible char creation tools. FFXIV textures/shaders better too. Everything in TESO looked all shiny and plastic. FFXIV do a better job with materials. and they still ultra low poly, so no lag.

Well previously everyone would do the slaughter missions (kill X mobs for victory), because they all provided the same amount of points.

Now though, if your goal is points not wins, you are better suited doing the Rescue or Assassinate missions because they award so many more points. Almost no one did these types because they generally took longer or were easier to fail.

Should be interesting to see people try out new mission types they've never done before.

That's a grave assumption, my guild did the whole spread back on live originally and had a good time doing it.
