That is a really nice case you got, and was the one I was going to get if I ordered online. I ended up with a cheap DIYPC case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811353025) at the local store. I mean the one I got is still quiet and keeps things cool and hasn't really been an issue though.

Gold and modular power supply is a nice choice. That's another area I had to make small sacrifices in at the local shop. It wasn't too bad though using a non-modular power supply since I used almost all of the wires from it and bought a package of zip ties.

I see you went with the i7 haswell. Great choice imo. Future proofing yourself will pay off. This thing is a freaking beast. I used the stock cooler for a few days until my cooler master arrived and it was not too bad. Wouldn't overclock with it though. Super simple to overclock with the Intel XTU program, don't gotta fiddle with bios settings and can download profiles other people have made who have the same system as you. So good.
Yeah our rigs are nearly identical, you've got me outted on GPU horsepower and I've got a big SSD I can load my favorite games on. It's mostly preference and aesthetics between our rigs.

wow, that price is a steal for that processor!

I'm using a program called Primo Ramdisk, it loads and saves on startup and works like a normal thumb drive. I mainly got the 32gb of ram so if I played a modern MMO like EQN or Pantheon I could drop it into like a 20gb partition. Right now I have it sized at 8 gigs and put League in it (since its the only game Im currently playing), but that's a game you have to wait for everyone else to load anyway. It's just funny to finish loading while other people are still at 0%. I definitely noticed a sizeable speedup between ramdisk and ssd.

I was using Windows 7 but just installed Windows 8.1 now. I'm using some program called StartIsBack+ that gives a normal Windows experience (no metro start screen). I can still get to the metro screen with ctrl+windows key if I needed to. Really I haven't noticed any difference at all with Windows 8 once getting rid of the gimmick start screen, and I mean that in a bad way. Like 5 years and 0 improvements or cool features besides touchscreen stuff virtually no1 on a desktop uses cmon Microsoft.

(can tell I havent organized it @ all yet)

if there's room then you should consider a minifridge in between the desks for the necessary beverages
Just stick it up top next to the sub.

Just in case anybody is reading/has been reading this thread and is getting the urge to build a new computer, but looking to save some money check this out:

The AMD FX-8320 processor is on sale for only $99.99 (in-store only) at Microcenter...Seriously..$99.99. I know there are a bunch of anti-AMD people out there, but honestly, this processor is an absolute monster in all reality, and for that price, it's unbeatable. Also, it has tons of overclocking headroom.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/4...oxed_Processor

I personally have the 8350 and it has been sheer bliss for me. Nowhere near as hot as I expected, and performs astronomically better in games than what is said on many websites.

yea that was a base install, I hate the unity desktop. I usually go with XFCE

$100 for that AMD processor is also really good. whatsup with microcenter trying to get rid of CPUs at absurdly low prices?
