Built a supercomputer
 

I hadn't built a desktop in over 10 years, and only with my dad. In fact, I haven't owned a desktop in that long, been through several laptops, so getting a desktop is really nice. It was fun to get my hands on the hardware level since my only real focus in computer science has been writing software. Of course, it was a pretty straight forward process, and I'm very happy with the results. Linux installed in like half a second. I bought most of the parts locally and got a bulk homie discount, some of the prices were better than Newegg and Amazon. It was around 2 grand.

That setup looks pretty righteous. Is there anything you run that actually uses 32 gigs of memory?

16gb would be enough normally but I'm going to use it as a ramdisk

16gb is enough for even large RAMdisks, unless you plan to load an entire modern day MMO like gw2 or Rift on it.

I did a benchmarking video that showed a ramdisk vs samsung 840 evo a few months back.

Results were negligible.

Not that I'm thwarting you, I totally plan to jump to 32gb ram because ram is cheap. Just sayin you should do benchmarks and be sure that all the time spent working with ramdisks isn't pissing in the wind.

You never know how often those cinematics may get used in game. Better load it on the ramdisk to be sure.
