he obviously took it with free will. no one put a gun to his head and made him take it. Maybe they want the challenge. You cant imagine the adrenaline when I was runing back to Cabilis with all that cash being scared some softskin will kill me and steal it :) I was trying to look as small as possible, huging zone walls, runing and hiding when seeing anyone in range lol

Yea, even more degenerates like Lucid Vision. Item loot was fun back in the day on RZ when everyone wasn't using Macroquest. Once VZ/TZ turned to complete shit, half the server admitted to using it because it didn't matter anymore. It will go back to the same exact thing. It's a lost cause.

I had fun on vz/tz. I quit for two reasons: (1) I suck so hard at eq pvp (2) Seeing a good third of the populace cheating in some way.

The playing field was already tilted against me because I suck so badly at pvp but adding cheaters to it and I had no chance.

I'd do it again though if some sort of very effective MQ detector was applied and the GM's were given knobbed and spiked bansticks to swing.

Don't get me wrong, the GM staff there worked very hard and meant well but theres only so much 3-4 guys can do in their spare time and for free.

Item loot never works. People just bag there items or only wear them in PVE. PVP is fun because of the fear factor and the fact that you can take someone's camp or raid target away. I was horrible at PvP for 2 years, but the challenge of someone being able to come in and kick me out enhanced my experience. Made me want to keep playing.

Item loot would only really work if you could loot everything or dig through there bags for one item. But in the end it's not going to promote a casual player to giving it a try. The more people playing on a pvp server the better...

Server Status

We are shutting down the server due to a couple of reasons:

* Lost of Interest in the project
* Unable to find help with GMing
* Lack of population
* Expenses


We didn't expect this to happen but things don't always turn out the way you expect them to be.

In order to satifisy everyone's needs I am looking for someone who is reliable and trustworthy to continue hosting the box and capable of doing source code.

Me and Keegan would like to pass the torch off to someone that is capable and willing to continue running the project as it was tonight, database and server .exe's and all.

I will bring it back up and open everything up so people can go wild if they want to.

I haven't been to involved in the P99 community but it sure looks like you guys have pretty much the same make up of douche bags as VZTZ has. The only difference is none of these douche bags can be touched and poked until they truly rage.

This gives me the belief that Rogean & staff has to deal with quiet the hoards of drama from the population, which means maybe.... just maybe they are ready to take it to the next level and make a P99 pvp.

I would be in all favor for a "No rules P99 pvp" in order to not let GM's get burned out trying to enforce rules (Hello Sirken, what did i tell you bro). However some police would have to be done so it doesn't become a cheaters feast. You can't stop tracking, so don't waste your time on that, however you can counter warping and all the other active hacks with code and simple logging.

SZ came out in Velious IIRC thus iksar was included in the design. Would be interested to see a classic base SZ ruleset with no iksar.

Even tho on live i played on rallos zek, imo this type of server shouldn't be item loot. A reward type of server based on kills/points would work, but not really necessary, but if you wanted additional incentive to pvp that would be the way to go, not item loot. Community would be too small, most people wouldn't last on it

VZTZ towards the end dealt with it well. If you had a fraps of someone training they got suspended until gms stopped GMing. Just make sure the suspension is hefty enough and since two boxing wont be allowed and exp is going to be rougher it wont be as easy to hop on your alt and play like nothing happened.

There was an sk on vztz that kept training and fearing mobs while some low lvl newbs and alts tried exping. He got suspended for 30 days which i think is appropriate but he was just able to log onto his epic druid

I already said it, but VZ/TZ is the way to go. Item loot only encourages people to roll casters as they still have most of their attack ability while naked, melee and hybrids lose all their attack ability without gear. Item loot rewards the poopsockers who are too lazy to poopsock for gear.

Also hacks + cheats need to be dealt with seriously: Training, Warping, other hacks. With 30 day IP suspensions on first violation of rules. Permanent IP for 2nd violation.

Put it up on beta for a few weeks and have people test out or use hacks so countermeasures can be developed before it goes live.

I loved EQ PvP during classic & Kunark and would kill to go back to it. But not if I can't be assured that everyone is playing fairly. Without those assurances I bet server population at peak times will run sub 100.

I don't have any intentions of shutting down the forums, for now, since they run on a different server than VZTZ was run on, which I will remain hosting (my personal sandbox). They then let Cast loot my kael armor so for at least 5 minutes Cast felt he did some serious PvP, but we all know Cast/Bromontana doesn't go into a game of basketball with getting full raid buffs and a CT gate pot
