Drops in mistmoore no? Considering the exp penalty in place on red with the current decent amount of lowbie groups, it's not inconceivable to be farming that pretty quickly.

Only the vampires have a chance to drop em, even the named ones don't even drop it all the time; There aren't many vampire spawns inside the Castle, so you'd probably have to kill mobs inside to get vampires to spawn at night (which means you have to plan accordingly and make your rounds).
Haven't seen a group -inside- Castle for ages, maybe they do it on red. You'll have better results bringing your fungied warrior there and doing it yourself.

on red in MM i usually got groups at the tower (were avenging that one guy that noone remembers who drops chestplate of dark flame) aside from that MM gets solo'd
and even then the essences are retardeedly rare.. imo shits broken on rare. on blue they not nearly as rare.
