What is constantly?

I didnt say PVP did not happen, i said the ratio was poor vs PVE.

If you can show me some people who spend 90% of their time PVPing for days on end ill hand you the money.

My specific example was "Group moves in to KC, kills other group there, fight does not go on for an hour, losing group packs their thing and leaves"

Im not trying to say some PVE groups arent forced to change PVE poopsock spot from PVP

That in fact does happen

i think what you need to play is a game like league of legends , or battlegrounds in wow , where all you are doing is pvp

if you are here only for pvp , you are in the wrong place big ecoli

btw can my buddy have your shaman if you are bailing? ill give you a discount on a hydro unit if you dont want him.

But i think you should play on red99 still

I am not here only for pvp, but here for it alot. If Rallos was setup like this, i wouldnt have played past the first free month. I played 2 years.

Its just so bad.

Its a bad analogy to point out these other games as if EQ was not made to be like this, because Rallos had constant pvp.

Just an example, im playing a 23 rogue on emerald dream WoW emu.

I see this 28 hunter doing an escort quest, his pet is getting attacked by quest mobs. I decide to attack him. I fuck him up good but he finally kills the mobs attacking his pet, gets on me and kills me.

It was a learning experience. I learned that i cant stealth if im marked by a Hunter mark. Next attempt ill be better, and maybe i will die again and keep learning. And have fun while doing it. This is how Rallos was. This is not how Red99 is. Each and every time i meet someone in Wow, the gauging time if i should engage or not isnt long. Wasnt long on rallos either, just /who and bag my shit if there was potential hostiles/targets in zone.

This is the sort of attempt that a new player is penalized for doing here with xp loss. Even having played for that long a time in EQ, im not sure how well a 16 necro will do against a twinked out 18 war. You have to die to learn this. You have to lose progress in PVE (which is mind numbingly boring already, when you are past the first toon nostalgia) in order to have fun in pvp. Especially as a new player who is not twinked out, its a hit or miss gamble each time he attacks a player, and considering the age of the server, chances are he will be getting a hard twink and die.

Of course you could say "but he wont be meeting many twinks, his range is not populated" which is true (and boring if you like pvp). But hypothetically, as soon as pop would get better, people will start making them twinks, bleed out the new players and its back to low pop again.

People are just holding on to that edge they have by already knowing the game, that edge of having twinks that can delevel naked noobs, that edge of zerging/dominating with sheer numbers and xp loss.

This (and the devs who have seemingly no intention of changing this) is why this server will remain low pop. Most new blood will be shredded and shitted out because the learning curve is 90 degrees with xp loss. Not only that, it makes for a really boring experience (to me). I dont play games to get bored. Even as a 59 shaman i had a bunch of learning to do, the prospect of being forced to do lots of PVE just to pvp as much as i wanted to and get really good did me in after i got deleveled to 55.

There is nothing to do in EQ but fight over camps, and devs wont let players do that cuz "This is not CoD". lol.

Ive fought enough for this issue, its time to throw the towel.

i liked you bro sorry to hear that , im a big believer in removing exp loss in pvp ( horrible idea ) and removing penalties or increasing exp again.

but at this point staff abandoned server long ago , i only stay cause theres some of the most hilarious people ever on this server.

There's literally zero reason why pvp should have exp loss.

It's the most bluebie mechanic ever, as it
1. Discourages pvp by making the penalty of death too costly in terms of time
2. Encourages people running off into isolation to safely exp
3. It kills the server population which allows and encourages more of point 2

Really, just dump the exp loss. Who really wants it?

The PVE zergers (Nihilum) who by sheer numbers deterred any attempt at cockblocking them in PVE through PVP (This was remedied a bit by Cool kids/that other guild merging to counter zerg, but if they break Nihi, theyll be the new Nihi. The PVP griefers. This was holocaust when box started. They thrive on not just winning in PVP, but trying to overwhelm people with losses enough that they stop playing the game. Xp loss served them well in bleeding out the casual pop that could have stuck around for some fun pvp.

People whove been playing emus inside out for 4 years and know how everything works, whats OP etc and dont want to lose that edge. People getting to practice pvp alot to figure out what works and what doesnt work would make em lose part of that edge.

People who cant see past their own little navel to see whats good for the box. Yeah you can quad kite, /golfclap. Grinding back that xp is just plain horrible, instead of super horrible and u can move around easily to get that xp back in peace.

And most importantly, its the devs who really want it. Cuz you know, "this isnt CoD, lol". Devs who grafted this poopcamp mechanic from blue to red. To them its more important that camps get claimed like on blue, than camps being fought over, like on Rallos. Its the devs that are the main problem here, they dont see daily, hours long pvp like what happened on Rallos, as something positive. Nothing will move without them seeing that as positive. It doesnt help that the majority of the vocal people on forums seem to be in the zergers/griefers camp. And nothing will probably ever move because of their policy of "Once a mechanic is in, its in". so i doubt it will ever change, which is why i decided to quit.

With devs that knew what they were doing as to making a Rallos-like server work, we wouldnt be where we are now. They had ample feedback to figure this out to correct the aim even if they didnt realize all this when server launched. Instead they choose to lay the post-mortem blame on the players like the holocaust players, who just used the griefing mechanic that the devs gave them. So the constitution of the pop of the server (a low population of mainly poopsockers and griefers, although there are some good people) lays on them even though having a smart pop who pushed in the right direction wouldnt have hurt either.
