You don't get skillups while swimming in a straight line. If you're just out for skillups, swim in circles.

Couple of questions:
1. Is the quoted passage the intended P1999 behavior or a statement of current behavior?

2. Is this a recent change? I remember swimming the length of West Karana river at low levels to gain skillups on P1999. The West Karana swimming worked a couple of weeks ago but did not appear to work as of last Thursday/Friday. The methodology was the same in both cases: Aim yourself in a direction that will keep you in the river a long while and hit autorun. Caveat: Swimming against a zone line, not parallel to it, could produce behavior that looks like strafe swimming to the server, and could be the cause of the skillups.

3. Swimming against a corner (example: butcherblock docks) also produced skillups on P1999 as recently as a few weeks ago. Does this behavior count as swimming in a straight line?
