Windows 7 + i7 920 is exactly what I'm running on my gaming PC, though I have 24 GB of RAM and an nVidia GTX480 instead of an ATI 5800 series and I'm on the old C0 stepping instead of D0. I've never had a crash or unclean exit on that particular system.
