OP, this kind of ranger hate, while not uncommon, is not representative of the player awe as a whole ^^

Ranger would be an incredibly popular class if their defensive skill caps weren't gimped at 200. If they could reach knight levels, they'd have outdoor pulling tools, TRACK, 2-3x knight dps, sow, etc. Unfortunately, they're gimped at lvl 40 defensive caps.

If this would change in velious, I'd roll one! But as far as i know they only get an offensive cap boost?

I'm not a new player, and I don't actually hate rangers. I think a well played ranger is great. But they are definitely not as effective as they should be, which does get better in Velious, and I think rolling one as an untwinked new character would be pretty rough.

That said, OP, if you do decide on ranger I have a silver swiftblade in the bank that is all yours and I'll make you a set of banded.

Please, DO NOT Play A Ranger as your first toon. Hell even your last. They suck ass on here, and will in Velious also. They suck ass even at level 100 on live yet.

I have one on every sever I play. Here, Sleeper, and Live. And the only reason I have one is for Tracking, nothing else. They and Berserkers are the 2 stupidest classes Sony ever made. They suck, plain and simple. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
