Hard to tell if we're good until the content is actually a challenge, honestly. AoW will be an interesting barometer, since it was never killed in the classic era. The PVP + general venomous nature of the server leaves me to believe even if we got it to 1% someone would find a way to wipe us. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
like a few rogues discing on some Clerics just before they get their ch off. the lulz

AoW was killed pre luclin by LoS. Whether you accept the frozen jesus as legit or not is a different story.

Problem with a third "raiding" guild, is that the server can't support it. Right now, even after the big push by Nihilum to get all the vets back, we're barely hitting 50, and a good number of that 50 are euros and people who can only play for a couple of hours "primetime" before needing to dip. That number is BARELY workable for Velious PvE on a blue server, let alone a red server where you need to defend the mobs, etc.

Factor in the constant turn over from burn out / defections, and you can see why it's almost impossible for a third guild to thrive.

However, if your goals are to be a smaller guild that snipes some targets, it can work with far fewer numbers, but keep in mind you'll be constantly losing people to Az and Nilly as people will jump ship for the easiest pixel express, particularly when those velious pixels start getting linked in OOC. Blue has 10x the pop and can only support a couple of true Class A or w/e the fuck they're called raiding guilds, so it's 10x worse on red.
Good sum up. My hope is that the numbers keep climbing up. Im leveling an alt and i see alot of new players who im grouping with, starting out on the server. I think the pre-velious buzz will be a great time for a group effort in passing the word on other gaming forums about red99. The more the population grows, the more its an incentive for new people to say hey this looks fun ill try it.

I think its healthy for everyone for the server to grow like this and ill be going out of my way to help the new people on the server settle in. I gave a 100p to someone after leveling with him in Kurns, ported him to BB and bound him near Lfay for that Mistmoore grouping and he was hyped about the server. Hope to see this snowball.

Meh I'm just posting that in the face that somehow people here believe classic guilds were cave man compared to them.

I'll be interested to see as content that is worth making such a claim is inc.

Granted all the strats/drop-locs are ready to go day 1 for you, and you'll have 4+ years of Velious to do it.

The only way this server has multiple guilds is if things end up the way Rallos Zek was during classic (pre AD zerg). You have a bunch of 10-25 person guilds that form alliances to do PVE content. Alliances would shift just like players shift around. It would make the server much more interesting.

Don't see that happening any time soon though!

The only way I could see a third guild working here is with a TREMENDOUS amount of effort, a huge grass roots movement, 24/7 recruitment, tons of fresh blood, etc. I tried this with Red Dawn and running the guild was a 9-5 job. It would take an individual with that level of dedication in order to pull it off. Unfortunately, even with that, you're still going to lose people to burn out and the other two guilds. It would be a huge amount of work.
I think the problem with Red Dawn was you trying to do everything yourself. The two established guilds essentially self-recruit, since the average player knows who to turn to for whatever it is they are looking for post-50. A third guild needs a better division of labor that at LEAST includes an experienced leader AND a dedicated recruiting officer. I think you did a solid job recruiting for Red Dawn, but the weight of actually running and maintaining the guild was too much on top of finding bodies.

So Biaxil, if you want to put in the work building a 3rd guild it's a long road, but possible. If not, you know your good buddy Fawq is waiting for you in Azrael!

Couldn't agree more. I've had more than one argument in TS about how tB, FU, HP, etc would do in PVP against the "top dogs" here. I think they'd do just fine but I seem to be in the minority. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

But in a lot of ways guilds here are just an improvement on a design completed by someone else. A lot of new strategies have been developed here in large part because the groundwork was already done. I remember reading posts on the FoH website about how Furor would break down parses for hours determining exactly what CH rotation was needed and with how many clerics, how many necros/mages were needed to keep them supplied with mana for the duration of the fight, when to use disciplines, how much buffer healing was needed, etc. All that crap was public knowledge by the time P99 rolled around leaving the new raid leaders a blueprint to improve upon.

Yea, Fawq, AZ is my likely future. I have no desire on running a guild and I'd like to see endgame content, which is something that I didn't get a chance to do back on live.

I will say things like everyone having mallets for every fight did not seem to exist on live, at least on my server.

I feel like snap aggro was much easier to get on live also though. Given I didnt start raiding content till early velious...but mallets just didn't seem as necessary back then. I was in dark only guilds for a long time and I think we'd have sk's tank a lot of encounters though.

Only started using warriors as primary once we were doing vindi+
