I don't like to watch sports either, but it appears someone in your life has called you a nerd for liking video games and now you're lashing out in RNF.

Don't worry Jeremy, you can tell me. You're safe here among your forum pals.

Tell old Lune all about how that mean jock put you down. How did it make you feel?

Not true. Again we are talking about spectating vs interacting. I'd say hanging out with your buddies playing cards is more akin to raiding. Hanging out with pals watching sports on TV is akin to hanging out with pals and watching paint dry. It can still be fun (because of how you interact with your pals), but the activity itself is not engaging. Hanging out with your buddies and watching 20 minutes of actual football, 2 hours of commercials, and an hour of dumb commentary, in the course of 3 hours, CAN be fun, but it's not because of what you're watching. Hanging out and watching 20 minutes of football, 2 hours of commercials, and an hour of dumb commentary, in the course of 3 hours, is fucking retarded.

Yes though, I am visiting my mother for one more night here. It's a little boring, but it's not like I couldn't still play EQ. I just hate playing games on my laptop.
I guess me and my buddies watch games different than other people. We do more interacting with each other and the TV is just background noise/conversation starter.

Think it just depends on a lot of things. I enjoy the game of football, grew up watching it with friends/ family. Only ever played unorganized games except for maybe intramural games. I just find that most people in general are dumb/annoying, and this is no different for football fans. Football is great cause one play at the end of the game can be the winning play or someone might be the goat. It's also fun to see how players and coaches deal with dynamic situations. If a game has no significance or my team is not playing it can be pretty boring though... unless Barry Sanders is playing.

I enjoy seeing certain matchups pan out and seeing people at the peak of physical condition. Many of the sports I like to watch I also play, and you can get a real appreciation for how talented these people are. For me at least, tennis is a great example... those guys are in great shape, are unbelievably talented, great concentration/mental toughness. With pro football players... those guys are just physical freaks of nature.

It's hard to stay tuned into a sport if your core group of friends isn't into it, and hard to get into sports you don't play or didn't grow up with.
