Default Options not 'holding'

I've recently reformatted the comp w/o backing up any of my P99 files, thinking I'd just re-download them NP! Well most everything is peachy except the fact the none of the options I change (alt+o) ever stay changed when I close EQ. My UI is good, just not my options. Every time I load back into EQ I need to 'fix' all my option preferences, and key-bindings. Loading into other chars once I do my initial option-tuning is fine. I only need to 'fix' my options 1 time per logging on EQ, though I'd rather not have to that anymore!

Anyone have any insight for me? What am I missing?

Do you have EQ installed in the default Program Files directory? Try moving the EQ directory out of that folder structure, say to the root of the hard drive, and see if your options stick at that point.

Options won't save the exact same if you're switching computers. Options will not save if the way you exit is /exit You must fully log out by the /camp feature.

One thing I have noticed on windows 7 is what Ashintar said, that protected directories won't let EQ write configuration changes to eqclient.ini. I moved my install to c:\eqemu\p99 and it works fine.

Another thing, if you /q out of the game as opposed to /camping and then exiting normally, I have noticed that things like hotbuttons are not persisted to the configuration. If moving the install doesn't help, be sure you /camp out after you play with options or macros.
