It's not what you're expecting.

That's eqclassic.org which has been in the works for 5 years now and uses the original trilogy client. It's nearing completion (finally). Check that out first.

P1999 works from the EQTitanium client, which includes maps, updated UI, new spell effects, new graphics, target rings, etc. It's really shitty if you're looking for a pure experience, but if you just want some giggles, it can be fun to 'sort of kinda' play EQ with the newer expansions disabled.

stumbled across that site recently, and while i appreciate what they are doing, they have a very elitist attitude about their "new client"

I made a post about it on their forums recently and was basically told p99 was shit and the devs weren't really devs, just people freeloading off "other servers who actually contribute to the eqemu codebase". Thought it was a pretty shitty attitude. I will probably not be playing when they launch a server.
