Default New Solo Pally ?

Hey guys,

Recently started here on p99 and settled on playing a paladin. I have not played EQ1 since the start of Velious so please excuse my noobiness. My brother and I are mainly going to be duo/grouping, but I'd like to know a few solo paladin friendly spots post 15.

I assume Befallen and maybe even Najena would be a good start untill I can do Unrest? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Also very willing to take any advice or tips after reading that resists are borked. I got alot to learn on here it seems. Thanks in advance! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You can do Unrest as early as level 12 or so. I recommend getting the Bone Thunder Staff (Procs at level 10) and mowing down undead in Unrest, or at the chessboard in Butcherblock.

I went from 10-12or 13 at the chessboard, and then 13-20 in unrest on my cleric. (Solo, i teamed up with people in unrest when they were around.)

Get some 3 STR earrings. The only real upgrade from those for a while are the ones from Mistmoore.

I seriously recommend getting http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=491 if you don't have a ghoulbane. Ghoulbane's damage will be better than that even before it procs at 20 however.

Anyone got a 2 hander they would be willing to part with for a few hundred plat? I'd love to start using a 2-hander when soloing so I can skill that up as well. Open to suggestions on what a Human Paladin should be using. Thanks again

I''l be on Samsams in game, feel free to PST me and I'll answer more of your questions! Here's some answers on whats been asked already:

-Ghoulbane spits hot fiyah. Srsly though, great weapon, a Pally staple. A Mithril Two-Hander would be a good sword to aim for saving up for, im pretty sure those arent that expensive on Blue.

-Look up your Ro armor quest items, and start xping where those items drop.

-Seeing as your a Pally (you're rolling with a cleric? i cant remember if i read that) but get used to Unrest. On red, a lot of people went into unrest at 14 and left at 35+. It gets boring, but it's just flat out good xp and ideal mob types for your duo.

- Befallen is a good zone to xp in also because: It's in WC / right by EC, most higher levels are very cool about buffs, and gettin some 50+ buffs is gamechanging when youre this low level.

That would probably make people respect your faggot ass more.

You guys might want to consider a pocket shaman in lieu of the cleric. Less overlap spell-wise, more damage, slows, wolfie, etc.

Just my entirely unsolicited opinion, of course.

Baton of Faith is the best 2H for pallies 20-45, buy in EC for ~2-300PP. At 46 get an FA (the book of scales MQs for ~15k-ish I think). For 1HS, Sword of Skyfire is cheap and good until you can drop ~1-1.5k for a Sword of Morning.

Deepwater armor is so plentiful its almost vendored (except BP/legs), most deepwater pieces will be 500-2k. Get some 16 AC legs for ~1k (kylong or sebilite scale), and some 5AC/55HP rings for 500 for the pair. The mistmoore 3STR/12HP earrings are about the best you will do.

The most expensive piece of gear will be haste, but since pallies keep aggro with spells and not DPS, its not as high priority. I think FBSS have dropped to 5-6k though.

All in all, pallies are incredibly cheap to gear up, especially compared to warriors and to a lesser extent SKs.

On live, with minimal twinking, I soloed unrest from 12-30ish. Start outside on the undead trash, move inside to the first floor, and then upstairs as you level. Root + pacify are amazing skills. Ghoulbane is awesome against undead, but a bit spiky (streaks of not proccing suck).
