End game?

I've just recently joined this server on a nostalgic kick and having quite a bit of fun leveling up a wizard. I was just wondering what to expect as I get up there in the levels? Are all the raid mobs pretty much perma camped by old guard? That wouldn't suprise me too much, but how about epic mobs? Are there any small guilds or guilds that function mostly as a community to allow people to help each other work on their epics etc and maybe do fear/hate runs for gear? Are the guilds that are established generally welcoming to new 60s or do they only want very specific classes to join their ranks?
Any info on the current status of end game on this server would be much appreciated.

If you do not expect the unexpected you will not find it, for it is not to be reached by search or trail.

The mega targets are locked down by the 2 largest guilds (mostly). That includes VP, Venril Sathir, and Trakanon. They also are the primary ones who take out the roaming Kunark Dragons.

Us smaller guilds do plenty of Hate/Fear raids, as well as the occasional Sky raid. We (small guilds) also are usually less stringent on who we let in from a class/race/level perspective, but probably care more about who we keep around (if we don't like you/you're a dick, go find a new guild). We also have plenty of people with epics that don't require Sathir or Trakanon kills. Those'll have to wait since the force required is just too much for most smaller guilds.

At times the small guilds have also teamed up to take down bigger targets. So yeah, there are plenty of guilds around that sound like exactly what you want. It's not completely dominated at the mid-level raiding scene by the largest guilds.

By the time you get to the upper 50s the raid scene may be completely different than it is now. You'll be able to get planar gear and probably your epic if you make friends. Play and have fun!

Your pretty late in the raid scene to do anything but cleric heal or roll any class then wait for stuff to rot.

if endgame u want to get your epic... i think you NEED to be sham/monk/rogue/cleric/paladin every other class you need to be TMO or BDA I think. but like someone said raid scene might be different.
that being said once Velious is out I assume the mega guilds will move to doing that and hopefully everyone else will then be able to try out new raid targets and get epics previously unavailable. *shrug

In velious due to hate / fear revamps / undead trak...epics become freely available to all.

I can't wait for that day. I have all of the Bard epic completed except the 2 Dragon Scales (no use buying them until Trak guts...) and Trakanon, but until the Undead Bard gets into the game there is no way for a non-Mega guild to get a shot at him. I think Divinity got a shot at him at some point and killed him? Not sure. But I know Taken has lost a few Bards simply because of the Trakanon drop.

Oh, and we've been able to complete a few Enchanter and Warrior epics, so those are still doable, if not hard, in a smaller guild. It's just the VS/Trak bottlenecks that are almost impossible to surpass.
