Default periodic temporary freezes

I've been playing here for about a week and having a grand old nostalgic time, my problem arises because seemingly at random, my game will freeze, just for a second or two, and then go back to normal.

It doesn't sound like a big deal, but when I'm trying to run back to the guards to not die and I get a random freeze, my character will just full stop for the duration of the freeze, usually I die. If I get a freeze on one of the Kelethin lifts, when the game wakes up again I fall through and die.

I'm running the game in windowed mode, first with EQEmu, having tried with the "use one CPU" option clicked and not, now I'm running with WinEQ2 and I still get the same problem.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with an Intel Core i5-2500k quad core CPU and GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics chip with 16 gigs of RAM.

Any help would be much appreciated.

So the problem still exists, and appears to get worse when I go into higher population zones like EC. It's really beginning to effect gameplay as I gain levels and need to make quick decisions and be able to run away from things and not die.

IF anyone has experienced similar problems or has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. I need this fixed.

Back in the day, active-scan anti-virus programs used to cause problems like this. Got any AV software running? If so, try disabling any active-scan technology it might be using.

Tried running with my virus protection disabled and the problem persisted. I think it has to be my computer because my brother runs the same version of the game on the same server with similar equipment and has no problems. He's run it on 4 different computers with the same success, and I myself have run it on 1 other computer with no problems. It only seems to happen with my computer.

I'm having similar issues and I recently installed a new graphics card so i'm thinking possibly the drivers. I'm gonna try and run a few different versions and see what i get.

I was having the same problem with the half second freezes. It seemed to happen the most when someone on my screen had any kind of spell effect happening. I tried a few things to try and fix it but it never went away until I updated my nvidia drivers to the newest ones. Ever since then there's been no freezing at all. Good luck getting yours fixed!

I think this might be my issue. I was at 301 now updating to 306! Nvidia drivers. Will report if it fixes it.

My game will freeze at certain points if I am running it off of a flash drive. Perhaps some of you are doing that?

Nope.

Installed WineEQ but that didn't help, actually didn't even work right even after all configurations. So uninstalled that. Uninstalling EQ. And going to do fresh, clean install. Ugh.

It seems to be better, but maybe it's just EC. Going to FP to test it. It seems it just hitch's for .5 seconds. This is after a fresh install, on a different HDD.
