GM polls, do they matter?

First off I would like to say I am not trying to hate on the GMs, I appreciate the classic EQ server made for us and the work the GMs do but Amelinda made a poll about global ooc closing in on a month ago now. The VAST majority voted yes but we haven't seen it or heard about it since. Is this exp poll going to be the same?
