Default I'm new from EQ Mac

HI,

I'm Elcid. I'm looking into your server bc my EQMAC server is being shut down after nine years of play. I have a few questions... Here goes. I see that 3% of you are running off of Secrets of Fadwar, but the set up says you need to use Titanium. I have SoF and oddly so Titanium is going for 50 to 180 dollars. I'd rather not spend that if I don't have to. Next question... I'm a Mac user. does anyone know if I can use "Bootcamp" with your server. Bootcamp would be running Windows Vista.

After 9 years of EQ on a mac server that has been "locked in time" at POP you guys are the next best thing and Im just not ready to give up my EQ but I can't make my self do the modern version with all the BS and merc etc I hear about.

Thanks in advance (sorry for the double post)

I run EQ here with both Bootcamp for the pure windows effect or with Parallels 7. I do have a high end iMac though (i7 16gigs ram and windows Ultimate) but I find zero problems either way.

I had a 5 year old macbook with 4 gigs of ram and literally nothing else and it still runs EQ fine. Only thing that's a tad annoying is the lengthy load times.

I typically run EQ on a mac dual core. Use boot camp install windows on a separate partition to have the most solid performance.

If you have slow loading times you can always load up entire EQ into ram if you have 4gb+ of it using ImDisk. This will make zoning a snap, and bard kiting a pleasant experience.

Secrets of Faydwer is no longer supported so you can't play on this server with that version.

However, if you're even mildly computer savvy, I'm sure you'll be able to find an alternate way of obtaining EverQuest Titanium.

It sells for $50 - $180 solely because this server requires it [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] But purchase is not required. You handed over your hard earned cash to SOE for years only for them to suddenly shut down your community, so fuck 'em.

Elcid,

It is good to see you again, I played on EQMac as the wizard Vaelsek. We were in Destiny together! I run project 99 on my mac through crossover games, and there is also a walk through somewhere in the forums to run it through wine. Here is the link for running it in crossover, and I used eq titanium by the way but others may work.

If you follow what that guy did in the link and then use the getting started guide from project 99, you will be good to go. Let me know if you have any questions. Good to see you again mate!
