![]() Bugs are annoying, but all of the people whining or even quitting because of "gamebreaking bugs" are just nuts. Realize that from the beginning this server had way more bugs fixed than any previous server because it uses the p99 code. This means that all of the pathing, quests, spells, and even small things like queuing tells/group chat, etc. that were never fixed on previous servers were all fixed here before you even started beta testing. This is as good as it gets; VZTZ, Kings and Bandits, "red69", etc. were all abysmal compared to this.
I'm not saying that bugs shouldn't be fixed or that the server couldn't be better. But if you were to write a list of bad things about this server, and then write a list of good things about this server, the second list would be a thousand times longer than the first one. There are so many classic fixes on this server that make it more bearable and balanced than previous pvp servers but in a lot of cases they are too subtle for most of you to notice. Here are some examples: 1.(a) The spells file: Did you know that on p99 you used to be able to modify your spells file and still play? This is true on most emu servers (probably every single one except blue99/red99 now). Now if you log into p99 with a modified spells file, it gives you an error message and doesn't let you log into your characters. I can only imagine how many ways people exploited this on VZTZ or other pvp servers. (b) Classic spells: this might seem minor but it's ridiculously important for balance. Spells like Affliction do over three times as much damage on non-classic servers. Lifetaps and necro dots also do much more damage, making necros even more powerful than they already are. There are lots of other examples; all of these overpowered spells were on VZTZ, KaB, etc. 2. Pathing: Pathing on other emu servers, especially vztz, was virtually nonexistent. If you aggroed a mob in a dungeon you couldn't always rely on strafe running to make it to the zoneline because they'd just path through the wall to get to you. This also meant that mobs were often impossible to attack because they'd be stuck in walls, something that rarely happens on p99. 3. Item recharging: some people whine about being able to recharge items on p99, but it's much worse on other servers. For powerful items you usually have to pay large amounts of plat to recharge them here. For Lore items you need to have a friend with the same item fully charged with you as you're doing the recharging. Previously on p99 as well as other servers (again, including VZTZ), you could just recharge an item by giving it to a quest NPC, who would then hand it back to you fully charged. 4. Cheat detection: I can't believe anyone can honestly knock this server when it has the only working cheat detection system of any eqemu server. It has an even better detection system than Live. Enough said. 5. Bards: Bards are pretty much unplayable on other emu servers. Instrument modifiers don't work, kiting is messed up because mobs have wildly varying runspeeds, etc. This is by far the most important reason why VZTZ sucked and red99 is awesome. These are just a few huge advantages that red99 has over past pvp servers. Before you bitch about how bad red99 is, think about how good it is relative to other servers that came before.
