Default NonInstaced MMOs

EQ pionered the MMO genre, combined the awesomess of MUDs with modern 3D Graphics. It was the first mainstream MMO that suceeded in introducing people to what is possible in a vast virtual world. Many would argue that EQ's system of completely noninstanced content was flawed. I am not one of them, and actually prefer noninstanced encounters...it adds to the community and social aspect of the game. It's awesome to have huge raids, and competition over spawning of rare mobs and bosses.

Although I do enjoy this type of gaming world, I must say that at times it was frustrating and very unfun at times to be trained, griefed and overall annoyed at players who fed on other people's misery. I wanted to get ya'lls opinions...do you like noninstanced MMOs or instanced ones?

Also, I wanted to suggest something...I know this isn't the place to change the way EQ works or any MMO...but who here thinks an even better system than instancing or nonstancining would be...just allow there to be an extensive quest or series of events you must perform to make a boss spawn or random mob spawn? For instance...Nagafen and Vox...if they were already killed you have to wait forever for a chance to kill them again. What if there was a questline to make them repop that ended with you killing 2-3 guards before their lair? I mean, thats the biggest issue with endgame in EQ Classic...people monopolizing the bosses/keys...if you could do a series of things to cause a repop (not something overly easy or simple) would that be a good idea? Would you like to see an MMO in the future utilize a non-instanced world with that kind of system to aid with progression?
