![]() Good day P99!
I am offering an award up to 5k for full solutions to a these statistic problems. This contest will last until Sunday. The person who responds be 1) replying or inboxing me will receive the plat : ) (4 pts) At an ice cream bar, there are several toppings available. For a large assorted take out order of 16 ice creams, the waitress chose to make 3 strawberry sundae sauce , 6 green sprinkles, 1 chocolate syrup and the rest red sprinkles. It is dark and ice creams are chosen at random. (a) An ice cream is picked at random, what is the probability that the ice cream does not have sprinkles? (b) What is the probability that the first one picked has green sprinkles and the second one has red sprinkles? (c) What is the probability that neither of the first two picked had strawberry sundae sauce? (d) What is the probability that at least one of the first two picked had strawberry sundae sauce? Problem 2. A coffee shop does a marketing survey of 178 people who eat breakfast, to determine whether they pick up a coffee and baked goods on the way to work or eat breakfast at home. At home On way to work Total Male 90 51 141 Female 11 26 37 Total 101 77 178 A person is randomly selected from this group. (Write the answers as fractions.) What is the probability that the person is: a) male? b) male and eats breakfast at home? c) male given that the person eats breakfast at home? d) eats breakfast at home given that the person is male? e) female given that the person buys breakfast on the way to work? Problem 3. (3 points) On a certain diet, it is found that there is only a small chance that a person will not eat a forbidden food in the first week after starting. It is found that 38 % of the people eat a forbidden food once, 29 % eat a forbidden food twice and 25 % eat a forbidden food at least 3 times. A. Find the probability that a dieter from this group does not eat a forbidden food in this first week. (Note: write all probability answers as decimals.) b. Find the probability that a dieter from this group eats a forbidden food fewer than two times. C. Find the probability that a dieter from this group eats a forbidden food more than once. Problem 4. (2 points) (2 pts) (a) At a sushi restaurant, there are 13 different sushi rolls on a platter. You take 5 of them. How many ways can this sample of 5 rolls be taken? (Order is not important.) (b) If random sampling is to be employed, the probability that any particular sample of 5 will be selected is Problem 5. (4 points) (4 pts) A sample of 321 people were asked their age group and which TV show they would prefer to watch from the new fall listings. The choices were, Frosh in Rez (Reality Show), Missing Limbs (Hospital drama), Alien Amy, private investigator (sci fi crime comedy), Frosh Missing Limbs Alien Amy Totals Under 20 52 31 15 98 21-30 22 21 31 74 31-40 28 28 44 100 Over 40 15 13 21 49 Totals 117 93 111 321 Consider a random phone call that was part of this poll. (Write answers as fractions.) A. Find the probability that the person would be under 20. B. Find the probability that the person is between 21 and 30 and chose to watch Frosh in Rez. C. Given that the person will watch Missing Limbs, find the probability that he is between 31 and 40. D. Given that the person is over 40, find the probability he would watch Alien Amy. E. Find the probability that the person is either between 21 and 30 or chose Missing Limbs. Problem 6. (4 points) (4 pts) In Ontario, there has been some safety concerns about lack of swimming skills of new Canadians. There have been some campaigns to encourage swimming lessons. Assume a survey was done at a city mall in summer with the following results: 21.5 % of people were new Canadians. 41.5 % of the new Canadians stated that they were able to swim the width of a pool. 73.5 % of the people born in Canada stated that they were able to swim the width of a pool. Consider a random person from the group in the survey. (a)Find the probability that the person can swim given that they are a new Canadian. (b) Find the probability that the person can swim and they are a new Canadian. (c)Find the probability that the person is born in Canada. (d)Find the probability that the person is born in Canada and can swim. (e)Find the probability that the person cannot swim. Note: You can earn partial credit on this problem. preview problems Problem 7. (3 points) (3 pts) On an overseas flight five people have ordered a vegetarian meal on line when booking the ticket. However only 3 vegetarian meals are actually available on the flight. The flight attendant has to choose 3 people at random for the meals, from Simon, Gabe, Mike, Amy and Paul. (a) How many ways can these three people be chosen ? (b) What is the probability that Simon is included in the sample? (c) What is the probability that Simon and Amy are included in the sample? Problem 8. (3 points) (3 pts) A bird feeder is almost empty, it contains 14 sunflower seeds, 15 millet seeds and 6 red wheat seeds. A bird eats 6 seeds at random, what is the probability that: a) 4 are sunflower seeds ? b) 4 are sunflower seeds and 1 are millet seeds? c) at least one seed is a sunflower seed? (Hint: For parts a and b, remember there are 6 seeds in total and you need to account for all of them in the numerator of your probability. Remember to include a term for the not-sunflower seeds for part a and the red wheat seed(s) for b. ) | ||

![]() It is the truth in any stats class that if you don't do the work you WILL fail in the end because you just don't get it when testing time comes.
P.S. These are all really simple and mainly require understanding of the type of problem and then a bit of number crunching. DO your own work.
