Superstition leads me to wonder if it's somehow tied to individual characters. My main bard won their first scout roll, whereas my paladin tanked there at least two dozen times, never even coming in second place. Leveled bard alt to appropriate level and won 3rd + 4th scout roll, deciding then and there that paladin was a lost cause.
