SoulFire Faction Issue

Good evening!

Starting my paladin epic after a long solo grind into the 50s. Spent my 20s in HighKeep slaughtering guards and ruining my Carson McCabe faction.

I've noticed that part of the SoulFire quest chain involves handing in a key to the banker, who is scowling to me. I should probably not hand in this key until I am of sufficient faction, correct?

Anyone have any more specific information about this?
