Default AppImage for running Project 1999 on linux.

Project on GitLab
Download (Click the AppImage link in the latest release)
Readme
Report problem

Don't copy the appimage into your everquest folder

Your system need to have bubblewrap and fuse2 installed.

Running:
Code:
chmod +x Project1999.AppImage
./Project1999.AppImage <Everquest installation location>
Read the readme for more options. Read the section on Ubuntu if you use that.

Running this game smoothly on linux can be difficult. This AppImage solve many problems with the game by running it in a container with tested packages and selected tools. It is a bit bulky because it is essentially an Arch based container. For stability it will not be updated often. It does not have a GUI, configuration is done with environment variables. I have tested it on Arch, Fedora and Ubuntu.

Is it not possible to edit your own post? It says "You may edit your posts" but I can't see a button to do that.

Edit: So is there a time limit? What do I do if my first post contain outdated information?

The thing is, the forum isn't really the best place to make information available long-term. My recommendation would be to add info about your AppImage to somewhere like https://wiki.project1999.com/EverQuest_in_Linux_Guide, and then link there in a forum post.

That way, your AppImage info will live in a permanent place, which you can edit anytime you want ... but anyone finding the forum thread can still get that same info.

P.S. The edit button does exist, but only for like half an hour after the post is made.

Big update: I have now a GUI to configure launch options. I can also install the game from ISO files. No need to pass arguments or use environment variables. They are however, still supported.

For the wiki, do I need to ask permission to edit? The register button only lead to a login page with no way to create an account.

Oh ... that.

Unfortunately, Rogean is fixing things ATM, and new signups are disabled. Hopefully they will be re-enabled soon, but for now you'll have to wait [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Small update:

- Added option to switch between classic MIDI and mp3 music. Make sure you have a working MIDI device. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/MIDI.
- Added some ui skins that can be selected from the GUI. There are 3 skins for now: Draxui, Draxui modded for 1440p and Upscaled Velious UI. Make sure UISKin=velious in your eqclient.ini.

That's awesome. Now if only there were a decent mt-32 emu for these: https://archive.org/details/mame-ver...-32l-rom-files ...

Makes SQ3 sound great in ScummVM though!

Something is messed up with gitlab and all releases disappeared. You can still download the appimage from here until I fix it or if it break again.
