![]() I'm curious if there have ever been some serious discussions about exposing the server logs via an API so that we players who sometimes do technical things might use them.
Today there are folks who have to run full clients to parse the logs and accomplish this but it's a waste of resources to have a full client connected just to parse system logs. Use Cases: Red: YT's There are a few different projects that attempt to maintain a PVP leaderboard and track YT's that could benefit from having a reliable simple access to these. Red: OOC On red our OOC is server-wide and is the common channel for advertising auctions. It would be nice to be able to see these outside of the game. Blue/Green: Auctions in EC, there have been projects like this in the past that did this though what amounts to unmanned AFK bots streaming. The price tracking on the wiki is based on user-submitted logs. Seems like this would be pretty easy to automate and provide more datapoints if the logs were exposed via API. All: Lots of options depending on what was chosen to be exposed. I'm sure this or something similar has been suggested before but I think it should be proposed/considered again. TL;DR: Unmanned bots streaming logs/screens sucks for everyone. Please expose server logs via API to keep the P99 community competitive with other Emu projects that already offer similar features. | ||
