How to make an account to edit the wiki?

Sorry if this is a stupid question answered in an obvious place somewhere.

I have recently come across many wiki entries that could use some updating/fleshing out, and when I go to try to make an account to attempt to edit the wiki, it says I do not have permissions.

Any tips?
