I know i used to have hotkeys to turn my pages.

I used to practically swap out gems with my mind alone it felt like.

Check in the hotkeys section of the gear icon, I swear there are hotkeys for turn pages!

I know i used to do it, because it was set to my thumb on my fancy mouse.

My fancy mouse that caused permanent thumb damage because I was using it too much on p99.

You're not mistaken: it's not there. See https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...d.php?t=176908

EDIT: Or as Gemini summarizes (surprisingly well, although it kind of glosses over the "remapping A and D on your system" part ... and clearly it stole Ele's answer without credit ...):

Quote:
In EverQuest, you can navigate through your spellbook pages using the arrow keys. Some players also use the keys A and D as a workaround, similar to left and right arrow keys, though this might interfere with other programs unless you use a batch file to set and revert the change or a keyboard profile program that routes keys when EQ starts.

Additionally, you can use the command /book [1-60] to open your spellbook to a specific page.

For direct navigation, the arrow keys are the most straightforward method.

Thanks for clarifying.

Side question: How can I bind mouse-button to a key? it doesn't work for me ingame (mouse buttons not recognized by eq)

Both rebinding your mouse buttons and rebinding your keys (eg. "A to LEFT", ie. the thing with the batch file they mentioned) must be done outside of EQ; there is no way to do it in the game. You would need to buy a keyboard or mouse that is "programmable" in some way.

However, you want to be very careful with this sort of thing, because if they let you do anything a normal player couldn't do with their keyboard (eg. if you made a key/mouse button that clicked, then moved the mouse cursor, then clicked again) that would be against the server rules, and you could get banned. Also, even just using a keyboard shortcut-changing program (that didn't come with your mouse/keyboard) could get you banned.

In short, stick to doing what you can do in the game, OR what you can do with your mouse/keyboard software ... but just remap key 1 to key 2; don't do anything fancier.

P.S. Oh, and to explain the batch file thing, a batch file is just a Windows script to run something. You can make one to say "run program1, then program2, then program3".

IF your keyboard software lets you create profiles (eg. you could make an EQ profile where A always means LEFT ARROW) AND it lets you change those profiles at the command line (eg. you can run something like mykeyboardprogram --profile=eq to switch to the EQ profile), then it is possible. You create a batch script that's ...

mykeyboardprogram --profile=eq
eqgame.exe --patchme
mykeyboardprogram --profile=normal

and run that batch file instead of running EQ directly. It will switch your keyboard software to EQ mode, run EQ ... and then after EQ is done it will switch it back (otherwise you could never type "A" after you play EQ).
