Enter Key not working, mouse unresponsive when moving character the same time

So I've been playing p99 for about 10 months now, I recently had to replace my previous laptop and reinstalled p99 on the new one. I immediately noticed that the enter key only sometimes works (making communication with other players almost impossible and never reliable) and when I am moving my character and my mouse at the same time, the mouse becomes unresponsive until I stop moving. I haven't seen this issue addressed on the eqemu forums or these forums. I enjoy my classic eq experience and would love to continue to do so with the exception of these significant annoyances.
