Default Paw of Oppola (sp?) - Not using classic quest

What's up with using the revamped quest involving the guk weeds instead of the classic quest?

You use the weed to turn into a cat in kerra island to get the rings.

The original quest also required 4 rings (copper, silver, gold, platinum).

The platinum ring dropped off Gynok Moltor in Befallen (as he does with the current quest). I believe he had a rare chance of dropping the copper ring, and a very, very rare chance of dropping gold.

The silver ring was a spawned item in Blackburrow at the bottom of the 'lake.' I don't know if this is the case now.

The copper and gold rings dropped from High Priestess Mitty in Kerra Ridge. Mitty was in her high-teens. I don't recall for sure what class, either a cleric or shaman.

The Severed Paw container was obtained in the same manner as with the current quest.

Most of this is from my 11-year-old memory and I used the following link to check some details.

Yes! That's the one. Hence the storyline being items from around the world.

High Priest Mitty in Kerra Ridge also had a -chance- of dropping the silver and gold iirc, but was mostly intended for 1 ring. Eh, this was a reallyyy long time ago .. but you seem to remember better than i

Even before the dropping weed, the fungus mutant dropped rings. I remember camping it and was able to get the gold, silver, and copper just from the mutant itself.

Rat ear pie was added much later too. I'm not entirely sure of that, though.

Most likely, by now, the quest would have been as it is now anyway. When I ran the quest, I had to snag guk weed, and I started the day after guise and such left. So a couple weeks later for sure it was weed.

On Allakhazam, the 'entered date' for the current paw of Opolla quest is December 2000, but posts exist as early as June 30, 2000 in regards to the quest.

I know the change occurred before velious, but I don't remember if it happened before or after kunark. The posts suggest it happened just after Kunark's release.
