New player! Need help!

Hello,

This is my first time logging into Everquest. I created a wood elf ranger and am very lost. I figured I was supposed to look for a guild master but theirs no map to guide me. I can't kill a single enemy, and I can't afford any gear. Along with these roadblocks, I can't find an NPC with a questline at all. Can you guys give me some general guidance on how to start progressing? If someone would group with me, that'd be great. We can chat through discord or other platforms. I really want to enjoy this game. The appealing difficulty and general mystery entice me to deep-dive in this version of Everquest. I'm on the green server, by the way. Any advice would be great!
