Cannot Log In to Game

I played on P99 green server for a couple months without any issues a year ago. However, when I went to log in recently the best I can do is get to character select. Upon clicking "Enter World" the screen freezes, I get no loading screen, though I can hear the background noise from the game as if my character is in game.

This is happening on both my PCs, both of which used to run p1999 just fine. I tried a fresh install on one of the PCs and that did nothing to remedy the problem. I have tried all different compatibility changes and suggestions I could find on the technical help page. This has gone on for weeks until today when I tried and can no longer even make it to the character select. Now I just get booted back to the account login page after clicking play everquest on the server select page.

Would really love to come back and play some casually but I just can't seem to get either PC to run the game anymore. Any insight or help would be appreciated.
