Incredibly annoying clipping / flickering - male gnome helmets

The picture can't really do it justice, but male gnome helmet geometry "flickers" and clips substantially on the top / front. It's very prominent and it's really an eyesore, but the bug has been around forever. Is there any way to fix it?
