Merchants: crash bug

I used sneak to attempt to purchase an item from a vendor to whom I had KoS faction (capped down at dubious), and was also concurrently being attacked by a mob on the same faction. I was hit by the mob attacking me, causing me to lose sneak while in the vendor window. When I then clicked to purchase the item I was disconnected/crashed out (with the following message in the log, "Thou hast been expelled by the gods!".

Not sure if RAI or bug.

is it possible to just boot player out of vendor window when this happens instead? Intentionally crashing a player while they are being attacked is very likely to kill them, and seems kinda griefy.
