Some guy was selling this in EC today. Focus effects didn't come out until much later right? If not ignore this post.

I also tried to find if this item is even a kunark era item, and the earliest I could find any info on this quest is from 2002, but some of the items that drop for the quest, as early as 2001. It appears this item isn't even supposed to be questable.

It was a broken quest that eventually had the drops fixed and the new reward (original reward intent unknown) was revamped to match the year 2003, hence the stats being too good for a newb quest + focus effect. I was one of the people helping to work on this one (and getting SOE to admit it wasn't fully implemented) back a decade ago on the unsolved EQ quests forum.

The quest was in at kunark launch, just broken. The reward sans focus effect isn't really game breaking so it may as well just be left in w/o the focus. I certainly hope the other Kunark quests that are Kunark expac launch time are in even if they weren't foxed to be doable until a few years later.

Verant used to be notorious for that crap. Lots of quests are "unsolved" and "we" just have never figured them out. Eventually playesr sometimes bust them on it, that a part isn't dropping, some text was missing, etc. Many more are left "broken". It was some years before all the Cabilis class wepaon quests worked properly for example.

Me too, even if we don't see the final versions (Greenmist, Skyiron Cudgel of the Ancients .etc) until velious.
