Default Possible Lull-line bug

The Lull/Soothe/Calm spell line seems unaffected by mob levels. I am perfectly able to cast Lull on Greater and Solusek Kobolds in SolB (it's listed as capping at level 30). It does in fact lull them--I can walk right up to the dogs, etc. Likewise Soothe works perfectly fine on monsters above level 40.

I am not 100% sure whether the level caps on those spells was classic or added in later--I barely used these spells on Live, prior to the addition of the confirmation messages--but I have confidence the spell gurus can provide insight. At least I wanted to make the potential issue known.

EDIT: Upon discussion with the powers that be, working as intended. Thread can be moved or deleted as mods see fit, or just left to fall off the page.

It is of course known that lull-type spells in general are more useful on P99 than they historically were.

higher-level lull-type spells do also reduce the actual aggro radius beyond what the lower level spells do. At least, they should. I did NOT test that aspect of these spells as I assume they work correctly in that regard.

In other words, you can use higher-rank lull-type spells to split mobs that are closer together than you can do with the low-rank version.

hmm thats odd. As far as my necro goes, if i use the shitty lower lvl lull, the one that eats a bone chip each time, on the mobs in Lguk, it will not work. It wont agro them, but it won't pacify them either. if you lull using that spell then pull they will all come.

If i use the higher lvl one though, it works just fine, as it should.

i dont remember how it was in classic as i played a druid back then and didnt start using my druid harmony lines until PoP. But i thought the lvl limit was the whole point in lull upgrades.

Enc get their lull spell upgardes 1st, then the cleric, and lastly the pally. But if a pally can pacify any lvl mob, whats the point of the enc and cleric getting the upgrades before him?

The way the pally gets his lull upgrades, they are aqquired at the lvl in which the old lull will no longer work. Like they get lull or w/e at lvl 15, and it works on mobs up to lvl 30, and when the pally gets lvl 30 he gets his upgrade, so he can lull up to 40 or w/e now.

This would mean the pally can still pacify mobs, but cant pacify higher lvl mobs like the enc or cleric can.

If this is working as intended though, hot damn! im droping my war and making a pally! but i didnt make a pally cause i thought his lulls would be limited by lvl and i would still have to get someone else to pacify for me anyways.

There are definitely 2 chanter lul spells that you get within just a few levels of each other where the level limit is practically the same but the range is modified somewhat.

Calm http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=47&source=Live
and Pacify http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=45&source=Live
are the ones I'm referring to.

Pacify (roughly a minute) is a shorter duration than Calm (3 minutes or so), but you can get closer to a pacified mob with Pacify without getting a reaction. Contrary to popular belief Lull does not make mobs completely blind to social agro. If you path a train right over a lulled mobs head they will react. This may have changed with later expansions but back in the day it was more like an extreme line of sight limitation.

At least this is the way I have always understood it to work.

Calm

1: Frenzy Radius (5/50)
2: Reaction Radius (5/50)
3: Pacify

-------------------------------
Pacify

1: Frenzy Radius (1/55)
2: Reaction Radius (1/55)
3: Pacify

(Note: calm spell line had it's duration nerfed years after on live to be the same as that of pacify.)

on P1999 using the higher lvl pacify undead spell on Yoite, i can lull a mob and sit down right on top of it and it wont agro. i can also kill its buddy right next to him and he will just watch.
