Default Old School EQ1&2 player returning

Hello everyone I just signed up on the site and getting the game setup now on my pc. I played a lil of EQ1 back in the day with my brother who knows everything about the game n played since launch. He even plays on the p99 server too n hope to surprise him in-game. But the real reason im posting is because I wanted to see what classes are in high demand right now on the server for end-game raid content/ grouping. I played a shaman and mage back in the day around lvl 50, but wanted to play something new.
I played about 8 years off and on in EQ2 and was a guardian/zerker for most of that time. I always liked to tank but i noticed warriors were kind of boring to play in EQ1. Just wanted to get some advice before i jumped into the game and wasted a lot of time on a character thats not gonna be needed much. Im def. up for playing a DPS or healer too if badly needed on the server, so hope to hear some input from some of you fellow EQ players! [You must be logged in to view images. Let me first tell you what almost everyone will tell you. Play what you enjoy. Truly and sincerely, the more you like the class, the more fun you're going to have. There's room for everyone in the raid scene, and every class is needed.

That being said, cleric is the number one most needed class in the game. Period. There are never enough clerics. After that it's kind of situational, but you you could almost always use another warrior or bard. Once you start getting some items, I've heard warrior can actually be quite busy. It's not just hitting taunt and kick like a lot of warriors did back in the old days. http://wiki.project1999.com/Sakuragi%27s_Warrior_Guide is a pretty great guide if you're interested in the class.

But really, I can't reiterate just how important it is that you pick a class that you're going to have fun playing. In this game more than any other I've played, that's the most important piece of advice I could give you. Hope to see you in Norrath =).

I really do appreciate they saved the spirit of the old EQ. I know the old grind was tough. But anything work anything is work working for, eh? I hope to be playing a Barbarian Warrior.
