How Important is deity selection as a Rogue/Bard?

Hi Guys!

New player here, finally decided to make the jump to P99 and been enjoying it so far, still deciding what class to play after so many recommendations [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Was wondering how deity selection affects you here?

Pretty clueless if deity ends up being a cosmetic choice or it is truly old skool where for example it was better to be an agnostic chanter, or if Erudite Prexus Paladins had awesome hats and cultural smithing tied to religion.

So to make it simple, I was wondering on trying to level up either a bard or a rogue, what would be the best deities for them? Just go agnostic as a surefire way? or will I miss something along the way if I do not choose this or that deity.

Same with Clerics too, can you get that snare necklace as a cleric of inny? Just little things I remember from back in the day.
