![]() I'am a new to the game, but I have a lot of exp. in mmorpg and rpgs. Now I'am lvl 8 Enchanter, I can barely kill blue mobs and they give not so much exp. per kill. Does my pet take some of that exp.? I can't figure it out.
Am I need to buy any armor or weapons (I buy only basic armor with AC on it)? Is it reasonable to create a group and farm mobs with someone? I notice that not much people use LFG system, most people solo all the way? P.S. I enjoy the server and the game so far. looking forward to more group focus experience. P.S.S. English is not my first language, srr.

![]() Welcome to Norrath, Azgaron! We're glad to have you!
To answer your question about pet experience, you can read more about how all of that works here -> https://wiki.project1999.com/Pet_Guide "In order to receive full experience for a kill solo, you need to do more than 50% of the damage to the mob. If your pet out-damages you, it will take 50% of the experience away from the kill. This is a major change from the previous system, in which you only needed to do a single point of damage to the mob in order to get full experience. If you are grouped, you and your group will get full experience from the kill, regardless of how much damage the pet does." When looking for a group, I've found that sending messages to players that are within your grouping level to see if they're in a group or would like to group. You can also use the /ooc chat channel to broadcast throughout the zone that you're looking for a group. Sending messages seems to work a lot better and can help you build rapport.

AC gear for you wont make a big difference. What will benefit you the most is raw HPs and CHA for charming. Charming becomes very nice once you are a tad higher level, but when charm breaks the mobs hit you very hard and can kill you. It's good to have as much HP as possible, and CHA will make charm more reliable and hold longer for your enchanter. The best HP items are the player crafted rings, they are 55hp/5ac, and can be bought for 150pp each or so from a player named Stockmarket in EC. Spider Fur Boots also are nice, they are very cheap and are 45hps/5CHA. Bracelet of Woven Grass are cheap, they are 3int/12hps.

![]() I would say focus on grouping and learning how to CC first before trying to master charming. Charming will come later in levels and you will have plenty of opportunities to master it. Best opportunities come when you have a solid group to protect you if a charm breaks. But a chanters job first and foremost is CCing. If you're 8 I would say go check out crush bone. Get a group and start collecting those belts. You can sell them for some decent starting money and then gear your self up. As an enchanter AC isn't important. Like others have said you will want HP and CHA gear. Or being low level any gear with INT or mana. If you want a group you'll just have to send tells or /ooc lvl 8 enchanter LFG. You'll usually get picked up pretty quick because enchanters are pretty valuable to any group.
Soloing can be hard on an enchanter until you learn how to charm effectively. I would just group up for now. Plus those CCing skills you learn in group will be very important later on. One more thing. XP is very slow in EQ. It's a grind for sure.

![]() It’s a slow start with any character when you are starting with a clean slate. You will get very powerful as you progress and master your class. Reach out to players for help. Level up in east commonlands where you can get buffs from others at the tunnel. Seek out groups and xp will go faster and it will be more fun.

![]() From what i remember, all Enchanter Pets level 8+ are sold at Highhold Keep.
When i started my Enchanter (High Elf) i didn't really feel like traveling there at level 8, although i did know the way. So i basically bought all my Enc pet spells at like 24 or 29, when i came around to HHK. For a new player, the experience of travelling there may be very memorable though, since you will face alot of dangers (Kithicor Forrest by night, filled with highlevel undead). My advice is also, to group up with other players and you will learn alot about the game and your class. There you can also play around with charming in the safety of the group. And after all, grouping is the way EQ is meant to be played.

![]() Hey Azgaran
I have just returned to play EQ again. Played originally up to Kunark then quit. Back then I got my enchanter up to into the 40's not for sure exact level. I do remember their pets being very lackluster. Enchanters are more about crowd control than anything else and especially when you start crowd controlling and mezzing you will rarely have your pet up. They are kamikaze pets and you have no control over and will break mezz's. If you really like pet classes then maybe look into necro's or mages.
