Default Flickering graphics?

Hi all,

I have not played for a long time, and figured I would log in today and start a new toon on blue. Oddly enough, I've encountered a graphics issue that I've never seen before. As soon as the client launches, the screen starts flickering. It almost seems that the flickering interval increases as processing increases. When the computer is idle, the flicker rate is very slow. I've reinstalled graphics drivers, but that didnt work. Not really sure what might be causing it. I've messed with fullscreen/windowed and different resolutions as well as refresh rate on the monitors. I've played on this computer before with no issues.

The only changes I've made to the computer is that I played EQ live on a different install then my titanium client and I've picked up norton internet security which flags the dll as a virus, so I literally have to re-do the patch files and exception every time i launch the client because evidently norton sucks.

Thanks all and Happy New Year!

I had this also since yesterday since i updated my Nvidia drivers to the release on the 20th December (version 23.21.13.8871)

The drivers prior to that were fine.

Are you using Nvidia?

The problem only presents itself in windowed mode. There are no issues in full screen.

Very frustrating.

You got a video of this. I’ve never seen or helped with this problem before.

Very interesting. I will have to check what drivers I have as I think mine auto update. But I don’t play in window mode so maybe that’s why I’m not seeing this.

Driver and Windows updates are literally the cause for 99% of the headache I get with PC problems. You'd think itd be the other way around. A recent AMD update made my Overwatch unplayable, had to swap to Nvidia... now I wont update that either, gg.

Zade if you get this figured out can you please share your solution for future cases.
I tried to do some googling but based on what you said you checked in your OP my search was fruitless.

Managed to find a "fix".

You need to run the eqgame.exe in your project 99 folder to run in compatabilty mode for winxp service pack 2 or 3.

Worked for me and my son`s pc`s.

Good luck.
