Quest items eaten

I did the screaming mace quest a few days back. When I got all the items turned in and went to turn in that last two pieces to the high elf it ate both the items and didn't give me my mace. I have pictures to prove that I turned them in. Is there any way I can get reimbursed? Character name was Brudis.
