Need hotkey/micro create help

To start I played EQ 99 to 05, hated changes so quit. I love this,but want to make gameplay more enjoyable, plus my typing is horrible/slow. I've tried to search forum, so forgive if this has been addressed. I want to make /assist them, plus other micros, but cant seem to get that window to type hotkey commands to pop up. Where do I find that, my actions don't show it, and right click empty key does nothing. I have reinstalled defalt ui, and reinstalled 1999 ui with newer style icons from forum.
