Server Crashes and Camps Defined

Did multiple searches and haven't found anything so asking here.

If I'm camping the AC, and the server crashes, when the server comes back up, how long do I have to re-claim the camp?

I ask this for 4 reasons.

1) I don't remember this rule on Live. At all. Servers came back up - it was alwayz FCFS.
2) I was told by a GM/Guide about 2 months ago the time window was 30 minutes.
3) The same GM/Guide this morning said the time window was 15 minutes.
4) GM/Guide said the info regarding this rule is in the GM/Guide forum and not for players to see.

Can we have a defined answer? And maybe add it to the "Camps: Defined" thread so that players know what the ruling is.

Becuz there is NO WAY for a player to know whether or not someone was at the camp BEFORE the servers crashed if they just happen to luck out and log on and run over and see it open.

It just means that every time the server crashes - you open yourselves up for a /petition by having this rule in place.

Not questioning the GM decisions on the matter - it just so happens in the 2 instances this occured I came out on the better end of the decision - I'm just asking for the rule to be publicly defined so it eliminates any further debate.

If you're referring to the Sro AC, i don't think you can really "claim" it. It's whoever engages first.

I dunno about the OOT AC. Never camped him.

There is a rule in the staff forums, but tbh 30 mins is pretty much excessively lenient. The server is back up to its pre-crash population level within 5 minutes of it being brought up. Use the common decency of letting the person have the camp back, it wasn't their fault the crash happened. If a server crash happens, about half the server is going to need a rez, be stuck in the ocean, or have lost something in a no-rent bag or trade or ???. If you cause a camp dispute during a server crash, expect the fury of hell to rain down on you and your kin.

Sro AC is 1 PH, 1 spawn point - so either way it's the same thing. Yer missing the point of the post tho.

What about when the servers are brought down and there are Serverwide Messages "Camp out now, somewhere safe, servers down in 5 minutes". What's the ruling then?

The ruling is stop nitpicking, if you have to ask, don't do it. Don't know how many ways "Use common decency" can be expressed.

IMO if you're not back before what would be a traditional spawn cycle of your camp - you've lost claim. Like Uthgaard said ""The server is back up to its pre-crash population level within 5 minutes of it being brought up.". Doesn't take that long to log back in.

Granted, this gets weird for super lawn respawn camps, but yeah... That' just my general thought [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
