Kunark Release Date

The news that everyone has been waiting for.

We are officially announcing the date for the release of the Ruins of Kunark as March 25th*, 2011.

So beta is done?
Beta is not done, in fact Beta is still a very important part of preparation for Kunark. We still have a few more zones that will be releasing soon that will need testing, as well as a few raid encounters that we may need to coordinate with some of the raid guilds on to get a raid force to tune. We are also still in the process of fine tuning spells and some reworked mechanics, and disciplines.

Too late! Sony is releasing the progression server now.
The server that sony is releasing, and what we provide, are two very different things. Sony aims to release a "Content Locked" Server. Many of the aspects of gameplay on their new server will be the same as they are on the rest of their servers, as it shares the same code base. There will also be things available such as Marketplace items, which will allow you to spend real money on trinkets ingame that alter the immersion for many people.

Sony's server releases before Kunark, and if you would like to play on their server then feel free to do so. While you are there, spread the word about Project 1999 and our release of Kunark to the people you meet, and then we'll see you back here along with new faces for Kunark.

How will Kunark be opened? What time? Will there be a patch?
Kunark's opening will be a "Flip of the switch" type of thing. All the content will be patched in ahead of time, and when Kunark opens, the zones will then be accessible and the boats will begin their journeys.

We are considering the idea of a server wide live dynamic quest, maybe a scavenger hunt of some kind. If this turns out to be the case, then an exact time of Kunark opening will not be predictable. However, the quest can be expected to begin sometime in the evening.
