Trade Prices Dropping

I recently came back after a long break and noticed that since Velious was released prices have gone down.

a FBSS once sold for 12k is now selling for 4k and fungi tunics are now selling for 40-45k

Is this a result of the expansion loot hitting the market market in full force making other gear obsolete and less valuable in the process, a result of deflation now that the RMT market took a hit, or something else?

The result of many factors i think. In terms of the FBSS, SCHW are common and they're a good substitute for FBSS. Fungus tunics are still farmed a lot, and I think a lot of plat has left the market due to rechargables / lots of old money has left the server.

Makes sense, it was just a matter of time before the market responded to the new expansion.

The market response was immediate for a lot of stuff, but some items depreciated slower than others. Iksar Hide Boots for example went from 20k to 2k overnight after the launch. Cloak of Flames is still the same price. Kunark class BPs & legs are way cheaper now. Just depends on how useful/desirable the item is when compared to Velious stuff.

Aren't SCHW slightly better haste% and come with additional stats. Is there a reason why one should prefer a FBSS over the SCHW? asking for a friend...

Only if you're a monk with epic, or if you have some amazing gloves you don't want to replace.

The wiki stats are incorrect, must have been after a patch on live. P99 gloves have no stats, are only 5ac (not 12), but is 22% vs 21%.

I prefer sash of the dragonborn myself for the little extra cash, 24% haste, tiny bit of ac.

Many of the items have similar or better and more easily obtainable in Velious:
Iksar Hide Boots have lodizal boots and CC boots
Heiro Cloak has that cloak from Kael and lodizal shell shield
FBSS has SCHW
Kunark bp/legs have thurg/kael/ss bps

Others, like fungi tunics, are still being farmed and valuable but there's tons of them on the server. Plus plat is becoming more "valuable" as old plat leaves the server and is spent on velious items.
