Default Weapon damage?

How does weapon damage work exactly. I've been playing a human monk, got up to level 7 so far. I had been using 2x rusty maces that hAae like 5 damage each. I was hitting mobs for around 10-15ish damage on a good swing. This morning, after selling all my sulk and bone chips, I was able to use every bit of cash I had and bought a 2hnd Wu's staff for 90pp , can't remember the full names, but u know I've seen other people saying it's a good weapon. Anyway, after equipping it and heading out, I seem to only be hitting for 15-20 damage. This staff has like 28 damage I think, so was expecting it to hit a bit harder. Does it have to do with the fact that my 2hnd blunt skill is low or is it scaled down do to my level? Thanks for any info

Damage capped at 20 for levels 1-9 capped at 28 for levels 10-19 and capped at 60 for levels 20-29.

General weapon dps is (wpn_dmg*2 + dmg_bonus)/wpn_dly

dmg_bonus for 1h weapons in mainhand(offhand does not receive bonus) is ((char_lvl-28)/3)+1

Your fists were probably better than the rusty weapons, but the wu's staff should certainly be better by L10. You will need to post all the weapon dmg and y numbers if you want a more comprehensive response ^^

You have level damage caps until 20. Can be increased with STR buffs, I think.

1-9, you can hit for up to 20
10-20, you can hit for up to 30

EX: My monk has a really good 2hander but she could only hit for 30 until she hit level 20, when she started doing the full 60dmg.

Copied from wiki (http://wiki.project1999.com/Game_Mec...bat_and_Damage)

Damage cap = (dmg * 2) where dmg is the weapon's stated damage.

levels 1-9 - damage cap is 20
levels 10-19 - damage cap is 28
Levels 20-29 - damage cap is 60
30+ - lifted, can do 2x weapon damage or more based on class

The dmg*2 formula is true until lvl 28 where you get 1 bonus damage every 3 levels to your main hand attack. So at level 50 you get 8 extra bonus damage:

main hand = (dmg*2)+8
off hand = dmg*2

You're right Sorn, really high STR can increase the damage a little bit over the cap, but nothing fancy...
