P99 forums is a great place to learn english and american culture

there's enough entropy and bitrot from the heydays that the real bad shit is gone from these boards anyway... most of bighurb, rellapse, tralina, naez and hasbinbad is pretty much bitrot to quarks.

sadly

Bitrot is when the data on old magnetically stored media degrades over time. This is an issue for people like myself who collect old video game cartridges. It can be overcame though with the right equipment.

Hacker speak for the loss of data or software integrity over time, though CS nerds really like to drive home that regular entropy to the Internet is not bit rot.

Most hackers agree, the Internet suffers bit rot (the loss of data) over time due to entropy.

Bans, censorship, sites going down, lack of archives, etc...

There's already cool things that no longer exist on the internet that use to back in the day. They suffered bitrot [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've had a few linux installs that had screensavers for x windows called bitrot instead of decay (though they are the same thing)

I guess it depends on whether you were formally educated or not.

The software degredation due to upgrading systems and neglect in software patching /updates to keep it running/forwards compatible is the more accurate answer from a technical standpoint.

IMO anyone who actually thinks a formal computer science education is valid is dumb as shit anyway, I always ran circles around the stupid indians with 10 letter last names and CS degrees. In every regard.

I just went to school to get my credentials I didn't give a shit about what they taught because it's all crap in the CS field aside from a few bits and bobs about computer theory and binary maths.
