I've been wanting to start a tank alt for when I am bored/cant find a group for the cleric or rogue. Now, from a brief observation I have noticed that Paladins are somewhat of a unicorn heading into the late 20s. Of all the races they can be, Erudites are near non-existent; making them also a unicorn.
We are talking about the Mythical Double Unicorn here, guys. At some point in the past, I acquired a Ghoulbane and a Shield of the Stalwart Seas. I also have 2 5/55s on deck in the bank. I don't know when I did all this, but they are in the bank as I type this. Now, I need you, All Mighty Nerds of the Internet. History tells me that I want to dump every bit of my starting points in Stamina, but wont that gimp me on what gear I can use at the start? I mean, I know it wont matter a bit later in life, but I want to be ripping faces off. I want to impress the other nerds that I will be tanking for. Furthermore, what would some good gear to pick up, I've got maybe. . 2-2.5k if I sold everything excluding G and SotSS. Thoughts?

Crusty is good paladin starter stuff. Fairly inexpensive too. Hurts lull but probably not a large concern.

If you really want to min-max, I'd say go all STA. You can safely assume you'll have +5 AGI from one item or another when you reach the end game. If you're more concerned with quality of life while leveling, 10 STR will help a lot.

I highly recommend putting 5 points in Agility. You don't want to rely on items to be above the 75 softcap just so you can optimize 5 lousy points.
Other than getting Agility to 75, it doesn't really matter how you spend them. Most will tell you STA, but 15 STA is only around 75 HP at level 60. Honestly, Erudites have pretty miserable starting STR, just like my High Elf. That's why I did all STR, and having 85 STR as opposed to 65 was a significant difference to my quality of life leveling up.

I'd dump points into STR as a matter of quality of life. If you are rolling Eru/Pal, you are not min-maxing anyway. If you want to have fun and don't have much money to dump into, go with STR, but make sure to get you AGI above 75. I think you have to add 5 points to get it there. Good luck!

I have two Erudite tailors in Cracked Staff Artisans but only one is close to being able to do steelsilk at the moment (158+ tailoring at last check). It's expensive to level up tailoring and expensive to do steelsilk. Just the vial of purified mana will cost you four rubies at a minimum.
