Game Mechanics: unconsciousness loop

I recently found myself in an unconsciousness loop.

I was knocked to unconsciousness by a mummy who had given me rabies. I stood up and then fell down. This happened repeatedly. A nearby monk came and helped me by grouping with healing songs. We were able to group but his songs did not heal me. We called for a caster who came and cast healing spells. The spells did nothing to stop the loop in spite of the game recording me being healed.

After maybe 3 - 5 minutes of looping in spite of healing spells I used /q, and when I relogged I was listed at full health.
